Tanning oil can help you tan faster, yes. This is because it moisturises your skin and helps it absorb the UV rays more effectively. Of course, you should still use sunscreen to protect your skin from burning, even if you’re using tanning oil. The trouble is that tanning with baby oil (or olive oil, or any other kind of oil that increases UV exposure) makes you tan too quickly. It can be damaging to your skin to tan that quickly, so go the safe route instead: tanning with sunscreen for limited periods, or on a tanning bed.
